About the Virginia Homeschool Athletic Conference
The Virginia Homeschool Athletic Conference (VHAC) was founded in January 2024 by a husband-and-wife team who recognized a need for exciting, competitive athletic opportunities for homeschooled students across Virginia. We saw tremendous talent, determination, and heart in these young athletes and we wanted to create a place where they could compete, grow, and be recognized.
VHAC organizes high-quality, tournament-style events for established homeschool teams and student-athletes throughout the Commonwealth. Our goal is to keep youth sports where they belong: centered on fun, healthy competition, teamwork, character, and the opportunity for young people to develop the talents God has given them.
More Than Athletic Tournaments
What makes VHAC especially unique is that we are not only creating opportunities for athletes, we are also developing the next generation of leaders.
Our team includes seven interns who receive meaningful, hands-on experience in sports management, project management, event operations, communications, marketing, budgeting, and leadership. Through their work with VHAC, these young adults are entrusted with real responsibilities that prepare them to serve confidently and effectively in their future careers and communities.
VHAC is not profit-driven. We are mission-driven, committed to serving homeschool families, strengthening athletic programs, and creating opportunities that may not otherwise exist for these students.
Our Faith and Commitment
Our Christian faith guides the way we lead and serve. We are committed to honoring God, protecting the integrity of competition, treating others with respect, and creating an environment where athletes can grow both on and off the court or field.
Through the generosity of donors, sponsors, volunteers, and participating organizations, VHAC can continue expanding tournament opportunities, supporting young leaders, and keeping events accessible for homeschool athletes throughout Virginia.
At VHAC, we are building more than tournaments. We are building character, leadership, community, and opportunities for the next generation.
Meet the VHAC Team
David Bishop - VHAC Board Member
David Bishop serves on the board of the Southwest Virginia Academy Conquerors and brings over 20 years of experience in both basketball coaching and organizational leadership. He and his wife have homeschooled their children for the past 18 years and have four children. David teaches and mentors in the Youth Bible Institute at his church in Roanoke and serves as the Operations Director of a missionary society. His desire is to glorify Christ through every area of life, using sports and discipleship as a means to reach the next generation with the gospel and to teach lessons that endure beyond the game.
